This is a subject that is important for the DPS of the guild to understand and to be able to raid successfully.

Being hit capped means that you have enough hit % to not miss your target. This makes +hit the most important stat you can accumulate for every DPS class until they reach their hit cap. Any extra +hit is useless after reaching the cap.

Important Hit Cap %'s
PVP - You need 4% hit to never miss a level 80 Ally
Heroics - You need 6% hit to never miss a level 82 Boss
Raid - You need 17% hit to never miss a level 83 Boss

So how much +hit does it take to make 1% you ask? See this chart http://www.wowwiki.com/...

+Hit is mostly acquired from gear, but can also be acquired from certain elixirs and food.
Also note that some classes have talents that gives hit%. Some even give hit% to the raid group.

In our guild's case Zimzum has the talent http://www.wowwiki.com/... which means as long as he is in your party/raid you get a free 3% hit. So our DPS can shoot for 14% hit instead to be raid hit capped, unless they plan on raiding without me :(.

So in conclusion, to maximize our DPS we need to be aware of our hit cap.

About the Zimzum part. I need to make a correction. Shadowpriest talent "Misery" only affects his current target and chance to hit with spells from the raid. I also read it affects poison hit rating.

Very informative, thank you Noj. Where does Expertise come in, if any for DPS? I know the higher your expertise, the less chance your enemy has to dodge, deflect, parry..etc.

cool update. Patch 3.1 notes mention Misery will affect melee hit too. Neat!

see source http://www.wowinsider.com/...

also notice mention of dual specs. Hope so.
